Children and Family Program Director

The Florissant Church of Christ is looking for a person with a passion to help children and families grow closer to Jesus and be a part of the foundation of the Church. This person will work with our Elders and team of ministers to support the church’s overall spiritual direction, and to be the lead as it relates to children and young families. The position is a part of the full-time ministry team that shares responsibility for preaching and teaching.

Job Description

Summary of Position Responsibilities:

The Children and Family Program Director provides oversight of all ministries for children ages birth to 5th grade and their families. This role is also responsible for leadership, development and direction of the volunteers working within the Children and Family programs.

Responsibilities and Duties:

Develop and implement an active and exciting children’s ministry that encourages children and parents to develop a relationship with God and His church.
Develop an active outreach and communication to children to help connect church families with each other
Be an active and supportive member of the staff in support of overall church initiatives
Support parents in the spiritual formation of their child’s life and helping them develop a biblical worldview. This includes establishing events and opportunities to address family needs (e.g. parenting seminars, mentoring programs)
Help children recognize their role in reaching out to friends and help us build our church into a family where others want to be connected
Recruit and train children and family ministry volunteers
Implement policies for the safety and security of children including volunteer background checks and security procedures
Provide regular and frequent updates to the technology team to highlight children and family programs on the church website
Plan and participate in baby dedication for new parents
Share the responsibilities for preaching during our Sunday assembly

Qualifications:

Relevant education or experience that would enable success in ministry objectives
Theological base that will harmonize with the congregation’s beliefs
Ability to pass a background check to work with children
Willing to work as a member of a ministry team
