Mike's Monday Thought Manna Limits One of the rules about gathering manna was they couldn't gather any on the Sabbath. It was a day of rest and gathering manna would violate the day of rest rule. They were allowed to gather enough for two days on day six and it would not spoil over-night like it would any other night. God was very serious about wanting them to honor the Sabbath day. He told Moses, "The Sabbath is the Lord's gift to you." (NLT) It wasn't a hoop for them to jump through to prove their obedience. It was a gift from God demanding rest for themselves and respect for him as the Creator. Mankind has always struggled with accepting blessings from God and responding to him with obedience and love.
