Mike's Monday Thought Prepare Your Minds for Action (4) No significant change can happen in our hearts without an honest change in the way we think. Peter said to get our minds ready for action and that action included being self-controlled, filled with hope, and being obedient children of God who refuse to conform to the evil desires that control the world. Peter is preparing us for the most important discipleship challenge for all of us. He wrote, "But just as he who called you is holy, so be holy in all you do; for it is written: 'Be holy, because I am holy.'" Being holy is one of the scariest concepts in the Bible. How can we be something we know we can't be because we are sinners? We are not holy because of who we are or what we do. We are holy because of what Jesus did for us. Peter is challenging us to be holy but at the same time he is telling us why we should change our thinking, be self-controlled, full of hope, and transformed by Jesus rather than conforming to the world.
