Mike's Monday Thought Another Gem From Jeremiah As Jeremiah is writing his book, Israel, the Northern Kingdom, has been taken away in captivity for years, and now it is time for judgment to come to Judah. Of all the warnings that God gives to Judah, I was touched by his call for them to work on their hearts. He said, "Plow up the hard ground of your hearts! Do not waste your good seed among thorns." (4:3) I love that call to correct their hearts. We are what we tell ourselves and we always have the ability to turn bad thinking around into something productive and helpful. Just a few verses later, God said, "O Jerusalem, cleanse your heart that you may be saved. How long will you harbor your evil thoughts?" (4:14) Our heart is like a computer.
