Bottom Line:  We live for Jesus know matter where we are or who we are with.

Introduction:

 A. Have you had an experience that changed your view of the world?

   1. Travel? Having kids? Military service? War? Disasters?

   2. Several things for me but being a Police Chaplain was big.

 B. Matt Zampolos had his world view changed dramatically!

 C. The biggest world view changer in your life should have been Jesus!

   1. I believe that is Paul’s message in Ephesians – Sum up in 5:1-2

   2. Because of Jesus we treat every relationship differently!

 D. In a world of relationships were everyone makes choices that lead to dramatic changes – how do you do it?

   1. Arranged & mixed faith marriage, parent/child, work/boss

   2. Be light, be wise, be Spirit filled, & be submissive – ALL

 E. Most ignored passage in Eph. is 6:5-9 but it is a continuation of the same principle begun in the middle of chapter 4

   1. What does Jesus do to a slave/master relationship?

   2. Cultural social status in a class driven society!

   3. Paul, like Jesus, ignored politics & social justice

 F. What if you have rank, are a boss, or have authority?

   1. What if you are an employee, a worker, & powerless?

   2. Principles of being Christlike apply to both! 4 Be’s apply!

1. Jesus changed segmented living!  Eph.6:5-8

 A. Where, when, and with whom are we Christlike? Everyone!

 B. Segmented living is hypocrisy! It’s not an act but a life!

 C. Jesus goes with us to work, school, story, and all sports!

2. Jesus changed the classifying of people!

 A. We are not defined by our worldly title & classifications!

 B. How did Jesus treat Nicodemus vs. the women at the well?

 C. What are you known for being? Boss or worker – what kind?

3. Jesus changed preferential thinking!  Eph.6:9

 A. There is only one Master! No one is over anyone else

 B. Treat others the way Jesus would treat them!

 C. “There is no favoritism with him” – Peter’s lesson in Acts 10

   1. Favoritism is un-Christlike because it is unequal treatment

   2. Any form of favoritism is wrong – Jesus wasn’t into “isms”

Conclusion:

A. What do the people in your life deserve to see in you?

B. They need to see light, wisdom, the Spirit, & submission!

C. Jesus showed them all! His baptism, when he washed their feet, and when he went to the cross!

D. His love and grace are for everyone and we are his carriers!

1.  What experience (s) in your life changed the way you saw the world?

2.  In your spiritual journey, when did you start to discover that Jesus changes your view of the world?

3.  In Ephesians, Paul was probably giving guidance to Christians who might be having relationship problems because of being a Christian when others were not. What might be some of those problems in marriage and parenting? Eph.5:22 – 6:4

4.  Paul goes from marriage to families to slaves and masters. Why do we generally ignore the slave and master part in Eph.6:5-9?

5.  How do the relationship challenges of Eph.5:8-21 impact the 6:5-9 passage?  Did Paul intend for them to be connected?

6.  Why do you think Paul ignored the social injustice of having slaves and masters?

7.  Where should the spiritual principles of this passage be applied?

8.  Where can a Christian go without Jesus? What does that tell us about segmenting our lives?

9.  What is so bad or wrong about classifying people?
