Bottom Line: We can’t be like Jesus if we are not growing in his kind of humility.

Introduction:

  1. Two beautiful events in the ministry of Jesus:
  2. The miracle of changing water to wine
  3. The cleansing of the Temple
  4. Which event displays the humility of Jesus?
  5. The world view of humility is not God’s view of humility.
  6. 1 Peter 5:5-7, “clothe yourselves in humility”
  7. Clothe = completeness, obvious, and a choice
  8. What do you choose to wear? How or who do you look like?

1. What humility is not:

 A. Humility is not a personality!

 B. Humility is not a lack of confidence!

 C. Humility is not weakness or vulnerability!

 D. Humility is not being quiet or not opinionated!

2. What God says humility is:

 A. Humility is choosing to be Christlike in how you treat and deal with other.

 B. Humility is thinking and being like Jesus. So, it is not…

   1. Any feelings or thinking about superiority, vs.5 God view

   2. Any feelings or thinking of entitlement, vs.5 one another

   3. Any feelings or thinking of inferiority, vs.7 he cares

Conclusion:

A. The greatest example of humility is Jesus on the cross!

B. Philippians 2:5-11, “he humbled himself and became obedient to death, even death on a cross!”

C. How do you “clothe yourselves” – time for a change?
